Hope Brightens

“Hope, like the gleaming taper’s light,

Adorns and cheers our way,

And still, as darker grows the night,

Emits a brighter ray.”

~Oliver Goldsmith

I memorized this amazing quote many years ago. I find Mr. Goldsmith’s wise poem here speaks to me of hope, and faith, and how the darker it gets, the stronger we can hold on as we are illuminated by our hope. When I discovered this artist and found this outstanding painting I immediately thought of this quote, and wanted to share them together with you.

I don’t know about our future, but my present is merrier and brighter with you in it! This post is yet another example as to why.

        Absolutely… πŸ™‚

Interwoven with the intimacy of a bride and groom or the grace of two ballroom dancers moving as one.

Thank ‘you’ for your lovely post.

Thank you for your wise and eloquent observation. Truly this poem evokes the imagery of two moving as one, which to me refers to hope and faith.

I’m making the captain an old fashioned embroidered letter for a welcome home gift (whenever he gets here!) and this is a quote I’ll think about!
