Gardening smiles

“Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the Light.”

~Theodore Roethke

I have spent the entire day outdoors working in the garden and I have loved every moment. Hours spent on various projects. . . rebuilding a section of our front yard fence, pruning out the dead limbs in the old overgrown lilac and breaking the branches down to a neat pile, setting up our summer fountain, repairing a bird feeder, and proving -if only to myself- that a push-mower really can cut long grass if you’re willing to go over it a few times.

I’ve been loving the tasks, and remaining in the present moment. Being thankful for bumblebees, butterflies and songbirds swooping all around me. I am happily tired and truly satisfied with a good day’s work. I will sleep well tonight. Physical exertion plus the outdoors is a perfect prescription for sleeping through the night. Wishing you a happy day, full of sunshine, out of doors. Namaste.

“There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.”

  1. I’m with you. Working in my garden is so enriching and fulfilling. Being surrounded by such beauty makes work a pleasure.

    1. Absolutely! I often find myself smiling while I am at my tasks in the garden. And your words of ‘enriching and fulfilling’ are perfect! Thank you for your kind comment. Cheers, Gina

  2. The springtime and gardening. Such an afirmation of new life and growth. The sunshine, blue skies and warm weather. Certainly a kiss from God.

    1. Well put, a ‘kiss from God’. That is beautiful, and just how I feel immersed in my garden, feeling blessed to be surrounded by such incredible beauty, all a gift to us if we choose to see it that way. Warmest thanks for sharing. Blessings, Gina

  3. You are so right, Gina! Physical exertion plus the outdoors is the perfect sleep prescription. After a day pulling weeds, my husband was zonked at 8:30 last night! It’s better than a gym workout!! Bless you and the honeybees, the sunshine and the flowers, the weeds and the overgrown hedges, the bluebirds and the swallows… life is good! Thanks for your positive take ;o) Love it!!

    1. You make me laugh, and I felt like your husband! Zonked out for sure. I am delighted by your comment today Jan, and that you enjoyed my wee post. Thank you so much. May we both be out there playing in our gardens today. Hugs, Gina
