About

I am a creative design junkie, neophyte web-head, optimist extraordinaire, sustainable gardening aficionado, gourmet comfort-food cook, undiscovered comic voice actor, pet whisperer, snail-mail enthusiast, collector of antique poetry, and proud proponent of the kindness of strangers. Whew. But wait! There’s more! I am a hopeful romantic and I adore my beloved husband. I am incredibly proud of my two grown sons.

Definition of the word: Profession

While the common definition of the word ‘profession’ is: A paid occupation, career, or the association of qualified persons in a field (as in ‘members of the teaching profession’), it has another meaning that I am referring to in the name of my blog: The act of professing. Making a declaration. Synonyms include: statement, vow, testimony, claim, assertion, and acknowledgment.

Here is a place where I shall be making my professions for peace, my declarations about people living together in harmonious acceptance. Here is a place for celebrating our differences while acknowledging our sameness. Humanity is like a spectacular tapestry of colors and creativity. We are all cut from the same cloth, and we all smile in the same language.

I believe that peacefulness begins within. Most of the writings and quotes here are faith-based. I am especially connected with seeing God everywhere in nature and I cherish the wisdom of Native American (First Nations) wisdom. I am Christian but I also study the teachings of Buddhism, Taoism, Judaism, Hinduism and more. I am a spiritual philosopher. I celebrate the precious common thread woven through all the world’s great religions that encourages us to Love. My spiritual journey and goal of each day is to remember how loved I am and to share that love outwardly.

It is my intention to offer thought-provoking ideas that foster joy, hope, and inspiration.

Be well.

~Gina

  24. Dear Gina, good morning and greetings of peace from the other side of the planet! a first note to say that your blog is an Alice in wonderland space! So many interesting to look at and discover! I am on wordpress since a month and feel like a kid in front of a Christmas tree packed with treasures and mysteries ti unwrap! The second note to say I have been very touched by your visit and comment on Sharon’s blog. Many thanks for being and live like it’s even on earth – it will be one day, maybe sooner than we think. f

    • Hello dear heart ~ how delighted I am to hear from you! Your blog inspires and uplifts the hearts of so many. Lovely Sharon has a way of finding lovely like-minded, kindred spirits. I love how you wrote here, like a ‘kid in front of a Christmas Tree’. I know exactly what you mean! It’s amazing to discover so many similar souls! Be prepared: that feeling doesn’t go away! At least not for me (wise old blogger of a few months that I am! LOL). Thank you very much for your kind words about my humble blog. I do hope to inspire, to lift a heart if I can. And your blog certainly does that for me. Blessings, Gina

      • Dear Gina, 12 days already and I didn’t say hello or thanks for your wonderful words! It has been – and still is and will be – a bit busy but I wanted to stop by to say how much your presence matters and definitely lifts the heart! I feel it everytime I see you gravatar appear and when the words engraved in memory and associate to it start vibrating. and you are right, still overwhelmed by the diversity and quality of the WP community! Pure love to you and yours, f

        • I can definitely relate to the BUSY! So never worry about time passed, dear man. I am always delighted to hear back from you, no matter how much time has passed. I really enjoy your blog. Such wisdom shared! Thank you.
This wonderful world of blogging finds me happily reading and enjoying the words and wisdom of a vast array of writers, poets and photographers. I hardly seem able to carve out enough time for my own writing! I am working with balance now, to write before signing on, or after logging off. I get happily distracted with so many wonderful things to read! Indeed the ‘kid in the candy store’ or Christmas morning feeling.
Your kind words here warm my heart. I thank you so much. We are a growing family and, my brother, I am so happy we are both in it. Much love to you and yours as well. Gina

  25. Hello Gina, thank you for following my blog.

  26. Dear Gina. Please write more so I can read more! You;re such a tease! You got me hooked and this addict needs MORE!

  27. I resonate deeply with the idea of Professions for PEACE. I also have another hope with this idea. That people in business, in positions of responsibility, as heads of families – honour their spirituality and personal beliefs in their outward living. We need more heart, love and light in the world. Blessings to you, sister Lightworker xoxo

    • Bless your heart dear one, my kindred spirit. Yes I agree, and let’s here it for sharing more love and light in the world, with our actions and choices, by being a living example, and by sharing our highest aspirations in this communicative world of blogging. Namaste.
Love and Light to you, Gina

    • Hello Jane, I am happy to have your blog listed :) and Yes what a powerful article she wrote, that you helped more people find. 41. Sorry for late stumble on GPFP: I promise I will catch up..

    • You are funny and kind! I too only recently discovered your amazing blog “Life is Mysterious” and I am loving every minute of it. You are brave and wise and sweet. Thank you for enjoying my humble blog as well. Your comment, and kindness, mean the world to me. Hugs, Gina

Call anything of your fancy; not funny please….

        • Awww… apologies if my teasing of calling you ‘funny’ was misinterpreted for I would never intend that! I simply thought it was funny when you said ‘Sorry for the late stumble on GPFP’ and promises to catch up. I thought it was sweet, and unnecessary, and funny. :) But I will call you anything of my fancy – except funny – if you please.

  42. Arise, Awake and Stop Not till GPFP is consumed…

  43. Gina, you know the beauteous soul you are blessed with?

  44. Gina, our life is based on thought which is measurable. It measures God, it measures its relationship with another through the image. It tries to improve itself according to what it thinks it should be. So unnecessarily we live in a world of measurement and with that world we want to enter into a world in which there is no measurement at all. Meditation is the seeing of ‘what is’ and going beyond it, seeing the measure and going beyond the measure…You agree Gina…

    • What a thought-provoking comment here ~ thank you. Yes you are so right that meditation is indeed the seeing of what is and going beyond, and “seeing the measure and going beyond the measure”. Thank you again for your comment.

  45. So very nice to “meet” you and to have found your blog today! You’ve got a lovely way with words, and a great eye – thanks for sharing!
    anne

  48. Thank you for stopping by – I look forward to know you through your writings and thoughts. A whole new world opened to me through blogging and it is a fun and adventurous trip!

Your thoughts on peace reminds me of the song we often sing at church – …
“Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
    With God as our father
    Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
    In perfect harmony….”
I just found out that Vince Gill wrote it…it is one of my favorite hymns we sing.
    Blessings ~ Patty

    • I LOVE that song, and I was humming along as I was reading :) Definitely a favorite song to sing in church.

  77. Wow! There is so much I like about what I just read above. What struck me the most is your statement that we all smile in the same language. I hope you do not mind if I start using that statement in my own life. I am also going to post if on Facebook with a link to your blog because I think it is such a powerful message. I agree that peacefulness starts from within. I like the fact that you study so many of the world’s religions. I believe that they all have important messages to share. Thank you for everything you are doing with your blog!

    • Hello Steve, and thank you! I deeply appreciate this kind and thoughtful comment. Yes, we all smile in the same language and that truth is a part of every breath I take. I celebrate that you might start using that statement yourself, and encourage us ALL to do the same! It’s a beautiful fact of life, that we are all the same, all breathing the same oxygen, all smiling our joy in the same way – no matter what our native tongue might be. It is wonderful to ‘meet you’ here, and I apologize for my delay in responding – only caused by a trip away from computers and et cetera. Blessings, Gina
